Dramatic Black and White

This week the theme is dramatic black and white at I Heart Faces. This photo is about three years old and is from the first trip my husband and I took to Africa. I shot this with my Olympus point and shoot and the quality is kind of sad, but every time I see this young girl's face I just want to cry.

We were sitting outside her school getting ready to show The Jesus Film to a group of people - I think that night was pretty average, over 500 people. Many of the children were happy, laughing and running around despite their lack of clothes and shoes. But she seemed to carry the weight of the world on her thin, bony shoulders.

I still wonder about her to this day - where is she now? Is she still in school? Does life still weigh her down?

There is plenty of drama AND almost enough black and white for me this week over at I Heart Faces. Check it out!

I Heart Faces - Bundled Up!! :)

I love this theme!! I Heart Faces has some great ones, but this is one of my faves.

I had to submit this photo of my son Jericho. We took it this winter during his very first experience with snow. He was enthralled, and I was enthralled all over again. It's amazing how children give you a glimpse of the world as it once was for you - new and amazing and beautiful. I love this photo because I can see his amazement in his big, blue eyes. :)

I Should Have Entered This One!

After I entered the photo of Sam and Jericho into I Heart Faces Sweet Dreams contest I realized I should have entered this photo of the twins instead! It was taken last Saturday, when they were 10 days old. They don't even look like brother and sister, let alone twins!

i <3 faces: sweet dreams

I have been following the I Heart Faces blog for a while and haven't been brave enough to enter anything... until now. :)

My son Jericho just turned one and refuses to sleep anywhere but in his crib. He wasn't always that way though - there was a time when he only wanted to sleep with mom and dad. Here he is at two months, sleeping with my exhausted husband. :)
